Delivering to CubeSmart in NYC? Plan Who Unloads the Truck

You have the storage address. Your couch, mattress and boxes are ready to leave the apartment.

Before booking the truck, settle one more detail: who is carrying everything into your CubeSmart unit?

A vehicle gets your belongings to the facility. Finishing the move may involve a loading entrance, carts, an elevator and a hallway before you reach your unit.

If you need help with the whole job, describe it as pickup, transportation and placement inside the storage unit when requesting a price.

Laborhutt is worth checking when you need movers to handle that work. You can enter your pickup and CubeSmart addresses, describe the items and access, and review your price before booking. Check your Laborhutt price.

First, confirm how delivery works at your particular CubeSmart.

Start with the exact facility and unit

CubeSmart in Brooklyn” is not enough information for a mover.

Use the street address on your rental agreement. Then confirm your unit number, floor and the entrance movers should use.

CubeSmart’s New York listings show why the details matter. At its 21501 42nd Avenue location in Queens, units were listed with different access arrangements, including elevator access, first-floor access and outside walk-up access. Some small lockers required a rolling staircase.

That is useful information to send before a crew arrives with furniture.

CubeSmart’s free truck offer still needs people to load and unload

CubeSmart advertises a free move-in truck and driver at participating New York facilities. It is worth asking about if you qualify.

The published terms, however, leave loading and unloading to the customer.

At the time of our research, the offer included:

  • One truck and driver for up to two consecutive hours.
  • A pickup point within eight miles of the participating facility.
  • Scheduling at least 48 hours ahead, subject to availability.
  • Customer responsibility for loading and unloading.
  • Customer responsibility for tolls, with other charges possible.

The two-hour period starts when the truck arrives at pickup and ends when everything has been unloaded at CubeSmart. Customers cannot ride in the truck. CubeSmart’s truck-and-driver terms

CubeSmart’s published terms, captured October 24, 2026. Confirm eligibility, availability and additional charges before arranging a move.

If you have people who can safely carry everything, the truck offer may solve the transportation part.

If you cannot lift the furniture, arrange loading and unloading help before reserving it. Compare the complete cost and scheduling requirements with hiring movers who bring their own vehicle.

CubeSmart also publishes a separate full-service storage program with specific location and eligibility conditions. Ask the facility which program applies to your rental and exactly what work is included.

“Deliveries accepted” needs a conversation with the manager

CubeSmart’s FAQ says it offers package acceptance and directs customers to the local general manager for details.

That does not establish the arrangements for your couch, mattress or apartment contents.

Before sending furniture directly from a store, seller or moving company, ask:

“I’m delivering these items to my rented unit. Can this delivery be accepted, who needs to be present, and who will move the items from the vehicle into the unit?”

Confirm whether the facility can receive your particular delivery, what authorization it requires, and whether you or someone you designate must meet the movers.

CubeSmart also says loading areas vary by location. Some have them; some do not.

Confirm your specific delivery with the facility manager. Package acceptance and loading-area availability are separate questions.

If a retailer offers curbside delivery, ask whether you can upgrade it or arrange movers for the remaining work. The storage address alone does not tell the delivery crew where its responsibility ends.

Schedule the unloading, not just the arrival

Check both office hours and access hours.

CubeSmart distinguishes between the hours a manager is available and the hours tenants can enter using their assigned access code. Those hours may differ.

For a first delivery, confirm that your rental is complete and that you have everything needed to enter and secure the unit.

Leave enough time for:

  • Check-in and finding the correct loading entrance.
  • Unloading the vehicle.
  • Elevator trips and the walk to your unit.
  • Placing the items and locking up.

A truck arriving shortly before closing can leave very little time to finish.

In an NYC apartment building, coordinate the pickup side too. Tell the mover about stairs, service-elevator reservations, loading restrictions and any insurance paperwork your building requests.

Get a price for the complete storage move

A useful quote covers the items and the work at both addresses.

For example, “one couch going to storage” leaves out important details if the couch starts on the fourth floor and finishes in an upstairs unit.

Send this instead:

I need a couch, mattress and eight boxes moved from [pickup address] to CubeSmart at [facility address].
Pickup access is [stairs or elevator details]. The storage unit is on [floor], with [elevator or other access].
I need the crew to load, transport, unload and place everything inside the unit. I cannot help lift.
Please confirm the crew, vehicle, total price, arrival window and any charges for waiting, stairs, long carries, tolls or extra trips.

List any wrapping or disassembly you need. If the unit already contains belongings, send a photo so the mover can understand the available space.

Avoid comparing a transportation-only price with a quote that includes all the carrying.

To prepare your booking:

  1. Confirm your CubeSmart rental, delivery arrangements and access.
  2. Enter the pickup and facility addresses.
  3. List the items and describe access at both ends.
  4. Specify that delivery must finish inside your unit.
  5. Review the price and schedule before booking.

Laborhutt offers fixed prices for the described job. Include the stairs, elevator and carrying requirements so the booking reflects the move you need.

Put the items you will need first near the door

Before unloading starts, tell the crew what should remain accessible.

If you will need your winter clothes next week, do not place those boxes behind the dresser. Keep labels facing outward and identify fragile items before anything is stacked around them.

Make sure the unit is secured and nothing has been left in a hallway or loading area before the crew leaves.

Your storage move is complete when the agreed items are inside the unit and you can lock it.
